Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for binding a NAS to Open Directory for user/group authentication? A number of NAS will authenicate to Active Directory, but apparently OS X Server's Windows support is well below par to support this. QNAP have a firmware update expected July/August which will inbclude wider LDAP support, but is there anything that will work now?

LOL. They "need" the info to offer us a better deal. Priceless.
Of course. Say you are a subscriber and then decide to cancel for some reason - maybe it's too expensive.
When a cheaper version becomes available, FT would like to be able to contact you to let you know about the new deal.
Or maybe they would like to offer you a welcome back deal.
Or maybe...
The point is, there are a lot of reasons a company would want this information that does not involve selling your information to someone else.

I'm working on a new project and decided to do it in Premiere/After Effects CS5 after booting into 64bit. It's way faster and makes FCP seem like an old sluggish turkey. I'm sticking with Adobe until I see what Apple has to offer next year. Depending on what you do, Adobe has a much tighter integration with it's product line and they have a more modern UI compared to Apples 1990's interface.
The next FCS better be extremely better if they intend on catching up with Adobe. By the time Apple gets FCP out next year, Adobe will be close to releasing CS6 and that will probably be another jump past Apple. I'm not holding my breath for Apple; they only care about their main cash cows now. Those being the consumer device/application markets.

Hey guys,
I've been searching around a few forums including this one but can't seem to find the exact information i require.
I currently have a 16bg 3gs with iOS 3.1.3 and the baseband version 05.12.01 that I jailbroke using Spirit.
I was wondering whether was any way I could update the OS to 4.1x or higher without losing the jailbrake? If so, how can I go about it? I unfortunately purchased a copy of Infinity Blade before realizing that it required 3.2.

I have a D-LInk Dl-524 wireless router up for grabs. It's 802.11g/2.4Ghz compatible. Woo!
I want $13.16 for this, shipped. Delicious.
This is the rare candy-coated version - so it's the most delicious router you can own.*

While I think the webmail update will come soon, I think that Apple will update .mac next to iLife in MWSF, as the two products have become extremely connected in recent years...

Other indications that this is PR spin/backpeddling:
1. They picked a size of 2mb for the db "turns out it was fairly large."
If they are ENGINEERS as Jobs says - they know how big 2MB is. They also know how much ascii data they can store in 2MB. Which is HUGE. GINORMOUS for straight text.
2. Deflected the very fact that this DB is stored on the computer. A bit of spin to imply that the only way to access it is by "jailbreaking"....
"We had that protected on the system. It had root protection and was sandboxed from any other application. But if someone hacks their phone and jailbreaks it, they can get to this and misunderstand the point of that."
----
"One thing I think we have learned is that the cache we had on the systemthe point of that cache, is we do all the location calculations on the phone itself so no location calculations are done separately. You can imagine in an ideal world the entire crowdsourced database is on the phone and it just never has to talk to a server to do these calculations (or) to even get the cache.
What we do is we cache a subset of that. We picked a size, around 2MB, which is less than half a song. It turns out it was fairly large and could hold items for a long time.

My guess is that you will be covered and get the Unlimited Mobile to Any Mobile (just as the person above is on his family plan which is no longer offered).
Just wondering, are you paying more or less than the 900 Nation Plan ($59.99) for the 1350 plan which you are grandfathered in to?
Thanks!
I just looked. I am paying $20 more than the 900 plan & $10 more than the unlimited plan. I believe I am going to lower it to the 900 & lose the 11,200 rollover minutes that I will never use. At one time I was using the 1350 a month, but I no longer have a need for it.

Thisthere are women who get sexually assaulted regardless of what they're wearing.
and thisit's women (the prey) who first need to stop dressing provocatively and more with class, and then men (the predator) will stop the sexual assaults.
don't seem to add up.

how do you get the weather, date, etc like that? i also see you upload/download speeds at the top, etc? can you point me in the right direction?
Weather : I'm not showing it. Not sure what you mean.
Date : Standard time clock
Toolbar stats : iStats Menus (http://bjango.com/apps/istatmenus/). IMO a must-have.
