I see people not supporting the CIR which was suppose to be a pro Immigration bill, no matter which part of the society it was supporting. My question is Are you guys out here a Pro or an anti immigration forum?

I think your attorney and HR are winking at each other. Looks like this is a cheapo lawyer. Tell them that you will file H1 extension only if they apply I-140 by premium or else you will go back to India. If you are in consulting and a revenue generating employee this is the best approach. Your employer will be a FOOL not to take you seriously. Also give them a few examples of people who got 3 year extension and ask why not for you?

I received my FP notice. My Lawyer also received my FP notice which he mailed it to me. Now I have two copies. Which copy should I carry for my FP appointment? Does it matter?

Doesnt matter which copy you bring. Attend the FP that is important. They will stamp your notice and sign it. Keep that copy for your records

I would go with the FAQ released on July 23 (since it is the latest) instead of the Direct Filing update released on June 21.
Where was your I-140 applied (if it is not concurrent with 485)?
Also, Q6 says the following:
Q6: What happens if an application is filed at the wrong Service Center?
A6. Forms I-485 should be filed at either the Texas or Nebraska Service Centers. However, through August 17, 2007 only, employment-based adjustment applications filed at the California and Vermont Service Centers will not be rejected and will be relocated to the appropriate Service Center.
Do NOT split hairs! You are okay!
P.S.: BTW, are you working for Cognizant?

If you are referring to my earlier mail about NIH, it is not a university but an umbrella term for 12 + National Institutes of Health. The institutions are completely funded by and part of the federal government. If there are immigrant investigators working there as staff members, they should at least have GC already. But, postdocs and other 'glorified' staff positions require either J1, H1, EAD from NIH or employed in such visas by contracting staffing companies.
If any IV member works in the university, could you find out if there are any Indian and chineese assistant professors that have joined in the recent past. Such people might have applied in EB2 through university and will be retrogressed.
Also pls get in touch with post-docs in your universities and inform them about IV. Hopefully some of them might be willing to help us with the interview.

You can apply for premium processing by paying 1000$ so that you can get your extension in a weeks time.

1) You CAN use the AP that is approved while you are out. However someone needs to courier the document to you before you can enter with it. I am doing the same thing with my Law Firm. You do not need the AP in hand to leave the US.
Again if your AP is approved but is in mail or whatever and you leave the country then you are ok (technically) in somebody mailing it out to you otherwise you cannot claim to have satisfied the rule USCIS has put forward and the IO has every right to deny entry at the POE

If you travel before the advance parole document is issued, your application will be deemed abandoned if:
A. You depart from the United States; or
B. The person seeking advance parole attempts to enter the United States before a decision is made on the application.

You really do not have to say good bye to GC. If your labor has been cleared, you can apply I-140 Premium processing with your present company. Apply perm and I-140 with this new mid sized company. Transfer PD to new I-140 with new company. Go to India to start your company have them outsource to you. GC is for future anyways, work on your new enterprise in India for 1-2-3 years untill your pd becomes current (whenever that happens). At that point you have an option to file I-485. You can still continue in India, with an option to returning or decide at that point if you want to stay in the USA for 2-3 months every-year to maintain GC for 5 years to become US Citizen.

The funny part is that I did use premium process and still took them 4 months...apparently they had made a mistake and process it as non premium and still took the extra $1,000... Im not sure if I am having bad luck or what else to think.
So I emailed Immigration and asked them about the 1 day H1b visa hoping they would tell me they made a mistake, but their answer was that it was not a mistake, that in fact they gave me 4 months and 1 day. But how did they give me 4 months and 1 day? I couldnt work during the 4 months I spent waiting for their answer, how is that the same thing? I know there is a mistake somewhere along the road, but I dont know how to address and/or what my possibilities are...
Also, along with my bad luck PERM was denied a couple of weeks ago because it was not signed by me. I am kind of thinking of getting a template kind of system where in members can involve and put in their thoughts and once an article ( of some interest) reaches to a final stage and gets approved by the majority it would be forwarded to the news papers / Journals.
I am not sure how much time it takes, but let me try out crystallizing the thoughts towards this end.
Would be great, if few people can join me in this endeavor. PM folks/writers who wish to involve themselves in this process.
This is a process that has to evolve and please do not have expectations as to see results right away.
However, if some one is ready to take the lead.... Please take over...
First thing we should do is to highlight our issues on our own website ( IV.org ). At this moment we are not even doing that. For example, today's "Processing date bulletin" which came out exactly 15 days late and that too with dates traveling back in time should be highlighted first on our own web site.
IV home page has not been updated for past 3 months or so.
Why not put these kind of painful headlines on our home page first big , bold highlighted ( eg "USCIS screws immigrants again with latest visa bulletin" ) and then dedicate few lines to it with proper links to last month's and current bulletin.
Now forward these links to news hungry journalist who will automatically investigate and write in their papers and journals.
Dedicate few inches of space for today's IV headlines on our home page first.

Hi randlesl, welcome to Dphoto! In addition to the above, some cameras are just calibrated to underexpose. My D60 did that consistently. I think I shot everything at +2/3 exposure comp. Some lenses may contribute to that as well. To test that, try taking a shot outdoors in good light using the same target with both lens set to 70mm and f/5.6. If they come out looking alike, all is well. If the 28-80 comes out darker, experiment to see how much extra you need to dial in with that lens to get it looking like the other. Also try a few shots with the 28-80 lens on a tripod, or other sturdy rest. If the images come out sharp, then the blur is like what I get ... operator error. If they are still blurry, then the problem may be with that lens. From what you said, though, and as jliechty suggested, it may be from trying to follow moving targets in low light with a shutter speed that can't freeze the action.

One thing I could not understand , why have they called for interview ? I know few people in similar situation got their GC mailed to them.
Have you informed USCIS about AC-21 after leaving petitioner epmloyer ?

My I140 was approved in Dec 2005 by TSC. The online case status still says it pending. And i just filed my 485 using that 140.

how can i find out which USCIS office my prev (first) EAD application was sent to? I'm a July filer, when i applied for 485 and EAD i lived in NJ and my employer was in NJ as well. The receipt notice of EAD application came from California Service Center. and there is nothing on the EAD card about which office it was approved by. The 485/EAD/AP all was filed by my employer's attorney, they will not respond to my questions anymore. i don't think i have copy of the EAD application send last year july. Anybody got older version of I-765, older than "7/30/07" edition?
What to write? folks, please respond ASAP, i plan to file on Monday(6/30) morning.
