Does one have to fight the "first tier" the security guard and then one can get in? Is it very difficult? I am trying to go 1 week earlier!!!
I you say you are out of town on appt date do they ask for a proof?
A friend of mine went without the receipt. Only his wife had the receipt. They printed his receipt right there... Even tho his appnt was a week later they did his FP the same day... he had no problems with the security guard... I guess its just ur luck!

A new immigration enforcement bill that would remove the jobs magnet for illegal immigration is expected to be introduced in the House very soon. The SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement) will be sponsored by Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) and is expected to have bi-partisan support. NumbersUSA believes this bill originating on the Democratic side of the House is just the vehicle to give us a chance to actually pass immigration legislation through a Democratic-controlled Congress that would significantly improve the lives of most Americans. The White House has a "NO MATCH" rule which was exactly like the SAVE :D Act ( How do they come up with these names ) ? The NO MATCH rule was blocked 2 times in a row by US Judges . I wonder why do they waste time drafting these non starters. Waste of paper and Printer ink is at the most that these Bills go to .. "SAVE" the trees at least .

Thanks. I did contact USCIS and they have accepted my request to expidite the cast. It is to be seen if it will actually happen.
My other question is, if my renewal does not come through in-time, since the renewal application is in system, can I continue working after the expiry of my current EAD? Or do I have to quit the job and/or leave the country?

My H1B and my wife's H4 visa were recently renewed for 3 additonal years. We also got new visas stamped in our passport valid for 3 years based on these H1B & H4 renewals.
Now I am planning to change jobs and will be applying for H1B transfer. My questions are:
- do I need to submit an application for transfer (new I797) for my wife's H4 visa
- can my wife travel out of US and then back into US on her current H4 visa while my H1B transfer application is being processed by INS.

If you have worked with your employer for atleast a year, you can also avail FMLA leave for 12 weeks (unpaid) without any issue. All the employers with 50 employess or more are supposed to follow this law.

Here's a killer.
- Applied for EAD and AP renewal for self, spouse and child (total 5 apps) with a RD of July 22 and ND of July 23, 2008.
- When I would check the case status online for my renewal apps, I kept getting a message "Case Retreival falied. Receipt # DOES NOT EXIST" :eek::eek::eek:
- GC approved on Aug 9
- Lawyer gets a copy of my Approval Notice for I-485 on August 20 and sends a copy to me by overnight mail ALONG with the renewal AP which was approved on August 18 - a good nine days after GC approval:confused::confused::confused:
- No idea where my EAD apps are!!! not that it matters

"It is hoped that, as the USCIS works through the numerous pending I-140 petitions, premium processing will resume on a more widespread basis"

I strongly feel that AILA and their associates are pretty good at predicting the policy changes within USCIS / DOL. In my observation, such statements by leading immigration Attorneys have resulted in near future procedural / policy changes. I consider this as an hint to all GC seekers to brace for I140 PP across the board, not just for people on the H1B brink.
Does anyone feel the same? any thoughts?
I did not believe it at that time (July). However, looking at the flow of approvals from even NSC (they processed my case filed in April 2008); I now believe that I 140 premium processing will resume soon (in next couple of months).
I am not sure how will they phase it in; may be first for all new filings and/or for people with current PD and then more widespread (hopefully based on PD).
TSC has been processing 2008 cases since past 3 months and NSC is doing so for at least a month now (they seem to have processed July/Aug cases for the past 10 months). I-140 Premium and I-1485 filed concurrently at NSC on June 29th. Received July 2nd. No clue if checks are encashed.

Be careful with your answer Owen... You already know what could happen with the thread... If everything goes as planned I'll be giving it a work out while shooting a gymnastics event this weekend. I can easly take thousands of shots during the event...
Last year I had to get up close and use a 50mm 1.8 lense with the d200 due to the poor lighting. I am hoping that I will be able to use the 70-200 2.8vr lense along with the d300. I have to stay a bit behind in the technology, so that I can afford new equipment ;) Who knows maybe I'll be able to pay for a good chunk of it with sales from the event ;)
I hope that it performs better in the high iso ranges as I have read.

Why not try the Nikon D80 just released for purchase sometime in Sept 2006 at $999. Better than D70 probably more like trhe D200 and not as complicated it would appear.:)

My fiance's country of birth is a country which has visa numbers. I am from India. I want to make use of cross chargeability . I have some doubts in the process. Can guys who have gone/going through this process help me.
1.) I have a masters degree from USA and my employer is willing to file under EB-2. my wife is bachelors. Can i apply in EB-2 for both of us and charge it to her quota since it is current for her country.
2.)Would she need to be physically here in USA for filing i 485.

I think he was talking about s1932... the immigration related provisions were removed from that in the conference. You need inform them that they should at least get behind the Frist bill or Spector bill and request them to support removing the hard limits on the country quotas.
Some talking points may be:
Ask them if they support quotas for college admissions, and then ask if they support country quotas for immigration...
Explain how quotas that are not tied to population are punishing countries like India and China with larger population.
Also explain how government is dictating to the companies where they can get the talent from and how that harms businesses as it punishes countries with good education system and large talent pools.
