Okay. Maybe I am too daft to fully understand you.

Can't you right click on the ODD icon in Windows Explorer?

Are both Option keys not working? Have your tried another external USB keyboard? Even a Windows keyboard will work.
And to be absolutely sure, and so I understand correctly, as this is new to me, you were able to eject any optical media inside the ODD by just pressing the OPTION key during the boot process into Windows (after you restarted the Mac and chose to boot Windows)?

If you have successfully installed the Windows drivers from the Mac OS X DVD, then you can use the Boot Camp Utility in the Task Bar to restart into Mac OS X.

What i meant is that I used to start with the option key and thereafter pressing the eject button.(When they show the different drivers)The option keys do work but they are locked.(Firmware password locked)Thats why I'm asking whether theres an alternative way to get the disk to eject apart from attempting to eject from Windows Explorer. If there is I might be able to prevent screwing up my mac incase I cant install the drivers.

The issue with the wallpaper not 'sticking' on through the reboot never happed to me, but I can speculate that the root of the problem was the fact that you had set the wallpaper through Safari, and after that you deleted the image or the temporary files got deleted. Anyway, the best thing is to keep an organized folder.

I'm happy to hear that you just got your MBP, enjoy it!

Hey my fellow macrumors users I could use some advice. Also that is one sure way to fry your Mac. Power surge can happen at any time.. Do you really trust those $100 surge boards for 24/7 use or do you have UPS.

Also think of how much dust gets in there...

Not smart to leave your computer on 24/7.

lol dont worry about the electricity bill, the project pays it selfs :)

but is it really bad for your iMac to leave it 24/7 ? :eek: discuss ?:D

Like you said if you need a portable mac then get the PowerBook 15", if you dont need a laptop then get a G5 iMac but you would need o upgrade RAM in whatever mac you get.

So Im a freelance Editor/Motion Graphics guy with no real understanding of RAID Controller Cards, or how they work.

As of right now I have three 1TB drives inside my Mac Pro, RAIDed together (stripe 0) using the OS. No Raid card.

The drives are all 7200rpm from varying manufacturers. (not sure if this matters.)

My questions is; is it beneficial for me to get a RAID card to control these drives vs. leaving it to the OS to handle? Any suggestions for me?

Remote Desktop rocks. I really like it better than Virtual PC for performance reasons. And I don't use any of my Mac hard drive space except for the program, or memory, and CPU time.

Virtual PC still is the best if you want to have multiple O/S's and at the same time and have the ability to easily reimage a drive and share your existing hardware and don't have to space for an extra PC. And if you have a laptop and not on a network to connect to your PC.

I don't know guys, I'm sold on the Mac Pro; after owning the 2.93 iMac the pro feels much faster, and I'm talking just basic tasks so far. The Pro i went with is the 3.2 quad with a 5870 so although the proc isn't much faster, it is night and day, I'm not sure what does it but i'm definitely happy.

Congrats on the new MP!

Put a fast SSD in that pup asap! :D

Odd I used TinyUmbrella to save the SHSHs for 4.2.1 but now after trying to restore I'm with 4.3 and no option of going back to 4.2.1..bumer

You won't find an "option" to go back. You need to run TU TSS server (That simulates Apple Servers but point locally instead of the internet), and them manually restore to an older firmware.

Obviously it's faster, but has anyone actually checked how much faster? I'd like to switch my main box to the console app but I don't want to lose all the work I've done on this WU.. Is there a way to do that, or should I just bite the bullet and lose the current WU?

At least not in the base model. In theory, Apple could replace the 3.2GHz quad BTO option with 3.2GHz 6-core but personally, I doubt that. However, you can buy the base model and do the upgrade on your own.
