Eager to hear some first hand reviews of the new Kinect. I'm still on the fence.
The games that are out for kinect are nothing really to write home about. joy ride was a blast, Kinect Adventures was ok. but those was the only two i played. but other then that the kinect responded very well, it didn't have a issue detecting motion nor detecting voice. two player works just as good as single player. my friend said his daughter loved the dancing game and it did just as well in that game.
its slow at first due to the lack of some better games, and people are looking at it like the 32x or sega CD and have mixed feelings about it. I think that will change in due time, look at some of the upcoming kinect enabled games.

So I'm looking into a new iMac and my budget is 1500 so I'm wonder whether to get the 2.5 ghz and get some ram from OWC or just go with the 2.7 ghz please help me decide
How long do you intend to keep the machine? Because you can always save up more and buy RAM later, but the processor is pretty much set. For this reason, I would recommend getting the 2.7.
Since you'll be spending $300 more for the 2.7, you're also getting twice the hard drive space and a better graphics card.

I think if we were going to see a Blu Ray drive offered, it would have been part of the Mac Pro updates last week, so I'm doubting that's pending soon. There are third party drives available, though.
3G iPhone has been expected for this Summer at earliest all along, so I'd expect an announcement at WWDC in June with immediate or very soon availability. If there's not a 16GB by then I'd expect one then. We'll most likely know 100% when it's coming too, because the FCC filings have to be submitted months in advance.

What do RAM cards for those go for? I have a couple pulled loooong ago from working machines. Probably an instruction manual somewhere too if it could ever get unearthed.

If I had to go out and buy a Lacie drive now, I'd get a D2 if only for the triple interface on some models. Have one at work and it's so solid and reliable... noise is only so-so but the office is noisy anyway.

also you can connect apple display with mini displayport to thunderbolt.
Yes. Thunderbolt uses the same connector as mDP so any existing mDP device will work without any adapters in TB port.
what the diference it would be if a display has thunderbolt? bigger resolution because of higher speed?
Thunderbolt uses DisplayPort 1.1a so it's not any faster than normal (Mini) DisplayPort. However, it can carry other data too because of the 10Gb/s PCIe channel it has, so it would eliminate the need of USB cable for data.
and what would daisy-chaining give me?
That means the ACD would act as a hub. For example, if you have an ACD with TB and ext HD with TB, you connect one cable from the ACD to the MBP and the other port(s) can be used to connect other TB devices. That way you don't have to get a hub to attach multiple devices into one port.
TB supports up to 7 devices in one port.

Seems it may be a hoax (http://www.allfacebook.com/chipotles-facebook-page-consumed-by-cat-controversy-2010-12), perpetrated by parties unknown?
We at Chipotle respect all animals and would not joke about something like that
Presumably that respect does not extend to the animals they grind up for their big burritos. :D

Well, I use Microsoft's software (Office 2004) more than just about anything non-Apple, and you have to admit that there is NO WORD PROCESSOR that can parallel Word for Mac in terms of file format compatiblity, features, reliability, ease of use, and name recognition. OpenOffice doesn't even run on Aqua yet, and AbiWord is still a bit shaky. The one thing AbiWord has that I wish Word had is a Latin spelling dictionary -- and there are probably very few Latinists out there who feel the need to spellcheck their Latin with MS Word. Excel is as good as any other spreadsheet and PowerPoint's native files will work on Windows (unlike Keynote). I've never actually used Entourage but it looks to be better than Outlook. Virtual PC is nothing shameful, either.
Brettrix (http://brettrix.for.macosx.co.nz, if I recall correctly) by Angela Brett and Rob Rix truly does deserve its title of "Swiss Army Cuckoo of Tetrices" -- a better OS X Tetris is yet to be seen by these eyes.
And who can forget Photoshop Elements? Adobe's Mac software is pretty good -- Photoshop Elements 2 lets me do most of the stuff I did on Windows with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7.
Also there is Ambrosia. Beyond even such fine games as Deimos Rising, you have Wiretap.

Yes, but you are limited to very low powered devices, I believe it is 10 ma or less, in effect only the SD adaptor works, to use the USB adapter you must add a self powered hub.....
Does iPhone need to be jailbroken to support SD Adapter? I was under impression Camera Connection kit only worked with iPad (power issues aside)?
Have you actually used SD Adapter with an iPhone?

Looking at the GUI aspects, Lion seems to be optimized for small screens and is particularly irritating for using with multiple displays. "Full Screen" blanks any secondary displays! Agree that Launchpad looks ridiculous.
I don't like the change in operation for Spaces, and the change in keyboard assignment seems gratuitous, but at least the assignments can be changed back.
However the changes "under the hood" (particularly resume, version control, and off-line TimeMachine) look good indeed, but most will require updated software. I expect the iWork suite to be updated at the time of Lion's release, which will help. Other Apple-centric developers will certainly play along, but I expect long waits for Microsoft Office and Adobe CS.

Go into Activity Monitor and view what is hogging your processor.
I once downloaded some security software from my bank for online banking and it ran my computer into the ground. Once uninstalled it was good as new.

Since you went the clean install route, my guess would either be bad ram or a bad HD. I had an iMac that had all sorts of weird lock ups and other odd problems. Traced it down to the HD, replaced it, been fine since.
It's probably not a loose connection, but worth a shot, make sure everthing inside is connected fully, reseat the ram and such.
Would doing the Apple Hardware Test help determine problems? I know for a fact that everything is seated properly, as the system has not moved for over two weeks. Stuff doesn't just move on its own (or at least, I hope :D). But, does the Apple Hardware Test also check non-Apple RAM?
