Wow... this is the dumbest security problem I ever heard.
...I can also track people down by seeing them and following them. If they're 60 feet away, why the heck would you need a tracking device to figure out where they are?

Sorry but that's not the case, created an account just recently to provide my input on this issue on another thread. I am 3 iPads down with problems and still hoping the 4th will arrive with no leakage or dead pixels. I'm glad yours is "absolute fine" but if you do a search or just ask around you will find this is a widespread problem
Ha ha ha! Way to prove you arent a Samsung rep..."3 iPad's down", give me a break, nobody could go through 3 iPad 2's with how tight supply has been. Take a hike.

Which is why I'm now reconsidering buying a 360 Elite...If the same components are being used...I'm not getting one. Microsoft needs to get their quality up. It's one thing that Sony has gotten correct this generation. Their console is quiet, reliable, and most of all, full of power and potential. I think the tides are turning for Sony. Looks like I'll be getting a 360 when it drops down to $200...:o
Whatever you guys say... I've had mine since January 2006 and not had a single problem.
They've already gone through some hardware revisions, no reason to assume they are as faulty as people love to suggest... especially considering there are more people with launch units that have never had problems then people that have.
It's smart to get some sort of warranty (or buy from a place with a good return policy) for any electronics purchase, and if you do... then if you happen to have a problem you should just be able to exchange locally anyway. Just be smart about your purchase, keep your receipts, and you have no reason to worry.
Re: HDMI - You might get a little bit better picture/color fidelity, although chances are good you won't really notice.

I'd bet good money that they didn't even find the right people... they probably got pressure from Apple, so they either found some people to take the fall (and paid their families off) or just found some scapegoats that look good enough for the fall.
The real people are probably just laying low right now... they'll get caught eventually though... cause they got a taste....

I really want iDVD to stick around (just like I'd like DVD studio Pro to get some more lovin') but I wonder if Apple may be making a general interactive export app.
Basically, an application that can not only export to DVD, but also an intractive Quicktime file, or a small self contained mac/iOS app, or (to iWeb (HTML5/CSS3/Javascript)
I don't know, I doubt that would happen but it would still be pretty awesome.
+1 QT 7 Pro (hopefully Quicktime X will get there someday)
That app already exists, it's called Encore and it's from Adobe. Export as flash or DVD or Blu-Ray, etc. And yes, Apple should make a uniform multimedia app that destroys it. It's my only guess as to why they've let all their multimedia languish like DVDSP. Why bother when you're working on a DVDSP killer, right?

Think Wednesday was the general consensus. Most people are able to show up then and its close enough to the Keynote date so there should still be a good amount of people.
Yup, Wednesday at 3:00 was suggested as the "big" meeting, though somebody mentioned the the Best of Show announcements are taking place that day from 2:45 - 3:45. Does anyone feel strongly about changing the time to avoid this conflict? (I don't.)

I would like to see Apple position iPod movies as part of the a broader strategy for higher-resolution content, but I don't see them going for a model where you download the iPod version and get the DVD in the mail.
Unlike with music there is a willingness to allow a digital copy when the DVD is bought, the future HD disks may have 1 or 2 digital copy's on the disk for the mediacenter, streaming and PC use. I don't know if providing a digital copy from the DVD is illegal? Amazon and Apple together would be the perfect couple in such a situation.

At least two women have been briefly detained in France while wearing Islamic veils, after a law banning the garment in public came into force.
Police said they were held not because of their veils but for joining an unauthorised protest, and they were later released.
France is the first country in Europe to publicly ban a form of dress some Muslims regard as a religious duty.
Offenders face a fine of 150 euros (133; $217) and a citizenship course.
People forcing women to wear the veil face a much larger fine and a prison sentence of up to two years.
The two women detained had taken part in a demonstration outside Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. Police said the protest had not been authorised and so people were asked to move on. When they did not, they were arrested.
I am not sure how I feel about this law. I would feel a lot better if the government had not used as their reasoning
The French government says the face-covering veil undermines the basic standards required for living in a shared society and also relegates its wearers to an inferior status incompatible with French notions of equality.
but rather something like "this prevents us from identifying people by face" or something like that, instead of something which says to me, "we decided face veils are not tolerable, cuz, well, we did."

Not at all. Sales are determined and calculated by part numbers ... by any reliable firm, that is. Perhaps, you're not familiar with such practices? Maybe you spend too much time viewing simplified/dumbed-down blogs instead of actual sales/business forecasts. It's OK, at one juncture, all of us had to spoon-fed.

Sales are determined by model number. Inventory control is calculated by part number.
Keep trying, though. I'm quite amused.

I love almost everything about the new design - small size, clip, and aluminum, but I HATE not having the usb connector built in. Last thing I need is another stupid cable/dock. Firewire to ipod cable, usb to ipod cable, cell phone charger, usb to mini usb for camera, etc, etc - Ugh, when will the cable madness end! The beauty of the old design was that it was all in one.
So, I spent my $50 ipod battery settlement towards a refurb 1st gen 1GB shuffle... I did consider a nano, but I really want the autofill feature of the shuffle. Can't wait to get it!

I must say I was a bit disgruntled when I saw that international orders would ship in 2 to 3 weeks, especially since I got a 4 to 5 week estimate.
Anyway, I just checked my status and it hasnt budged from April 25th.

So strange... so this school has an unprotected wireless network? No password, no encryption? If they setup proper protection only those allowed to use the network would be able to. Then you or anyone else could bring their laptop to school to take notes.
At the high school my daughter went to. They encouraged the students to all buy ibooks (2002). If you couldn't afford one, the school loaned you one. These were used in almost all classes and used to do research and writing assignments.

Wow, who makes up this stuff? Why would Apple introduce two iPads in the same year? Come on people. Sometimes I think the rumor mill has lost its collective mind. I am sure we'll see the iPad 3 in Spring 2012. I am more looking forward to the iPhone 5, which we may see in October? That's the crazy rumor anyways.

I do feel that for myself as an editor, if i were to take the time to relearn the latest version Avid, I still would not be able to do as much as quickly, and yes as good looking of an end product as i could with Final Cut X.
Saying that you can work faster on a product that hasn't even been released vrs. a product you haven't used at all, is rather pointless.

They did this with the Nintendo DSi back in 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5QSclrIdlE&feature=player_embedded
The game is available in the DSi Ware Store (called Looksley's Line Up). Its quite funny because the changing of the perspective will reveal the solutions to each diorama and the effect is done quite well.
Back then when Nintendo announced that their next iteration would feature 3d I just thought that they would implement this form of "pseudo" 3d in every game. The problem in real life: You only get the 3d effect when you move your head or your device - So its the totally opposite concept of the stereoscopic screens like in the 3ds or some new android phones where you can only see the effect when you look straight on the device! You have to experience both - Funny thing: You can download the DSi game on the 3DS and play it there and afterwards some 3DS 3d game to really get the idea how the two techniques behave in real life. Obviously both have their advantages!
What would be impressive is some combination of the two: "Real" 3D imaging like on the 3ds combined with headtracking..
EDIT: Some of the problems with Jonny Lees awesome concepts: You can only do it alone, the effect doesnt work if more people are staring at the tv, and it isnt possible with movies its only possible with real time rendered objects! As you can see the stadium at the end is totally flat, as opposed to how the stadium would look like with glasses and shot with a 3d camera.
But after getting my 3ds last week (together with PES 2011) I have to conclude that the 3d of the 3ds is better and more impressive even though my eyes start to hurt after playing for an hour or so..
Because they achieved this game with the DSi (133 Mhz ARM) I dont think that it taxes the cpu very much..
Wow. Slightly laggy, but the 3d effect was really impressive.
Regarding the 3d effect on he 3ds, does the screen have like slanted pixels that are each angled a different way? Or does it work?
It would be really neat to see a combination of a 3d screen, gyroscope/accelerometer, and head tracking for 3d on mobile/portable/desktop display.

Really? That's your best comeback? Counting different sizes and network providers as different phones? Wow. Good one! You showed me!
Now if only ANYONE else would count them your way, you'd have a point.
There are FIVE different models with FIVE different specifications. I can buy them online with the hassle of having to select a provider.
The rest of the world does count them this way ... check

for starters.
The MINORITY of people on the planet count them your way.

This entire thread breaks the NDA developers agree to when paying their membership. It's pathetic that some developers would do this just so they can feel cool by leaking the info. If you want access to the seeds or up-to-date info then pay the $500 (minimum) like the honest developers have to
From Apples agreement:
"Pre-release software is Apple Confidential information. Unauthorized distribution of pre-release software or disclosure of information relating to pre-release software (including the distribution of screen shots) may result in immediate termination of your ADC membership, and may subject you to both civil and criminal liability."
I know I'm not in ADC at all (as a Windows Mobile developer), and most of this thread is from people who are not in ADC, so I can't see how this whole thread is.
