Apple has also beefed up its maps, navigation and location-based services capabilities with the acquisition of Placebase (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/09/30/apple-acquired-mapping-company-placebase-in-july/) and Poly9 (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/07/14/apple-acquires-web-mapping-firm-poly9/) over the past couple of years. I seriously had a dream last night that maps was updated to 3D and you could use the gyroscope etc to fly through optional routes before chosing which one to take ahha.

The name of this piece is called "The Usual Scum" and it was drawn by the very talented Otis Frampton (http://otisframpton.com/) for me so it's not available for download in it's full size, an amazing 4200x2914. It is of course a take off of the movie poster for "The Usual Suspects".

There are no print ads. Thus its extremely difficult to accuse someone of bait and switch. Sites like macrumors and slickdeals are doing all of TJ Maxx's advertising for them. Brilliant.
Yes some marketing guy at TJ gets a few coworkers to go to the local Apple store (Or maybe Walmart) and they buy 100 iPads and sell them at a $10,000 loss. They get more advertizing that way them paying $10K to an ad company. This gimmick is dirt cheap, cheaper then just one newspaper ad.

A couple of those S2Ks earlier are AWESOME!! I've been really thinking about getting rid of my Talon and buying one of those. I need a new project car, and the S2K would be great. Those are just classic looking, so even years down the road, it will still look great. Thanks for the pics.

I've been a very satisfied customer of .Mac since its inception. I receive zero spam e-mails and I am delighted with the ability to create aliases. On top of that there is no advertising at all. I also have a couple of other web-mail accounts and they get zillions of spam messages even with their respective anti-spam filters turned on. I think that this update adds a little bit more polish on an already decent offering. I do agree with a previous poster that the iCal integration needs some work.

That's true, I have received VERY little spam, and what i do receive gets put right into junk mail. I have 2 to 3 email addresses forwarded to my .mac account (those 2 to 3 do receive spam) but i still get very little in my Mail.app or webmail. good point, because if anyone has ever used hotmail, that crap gets annoying fast.

I would still estimate that there are many more FCP installs in use than Avid.
If you look at the industry as a whole there are but the higher up the food chain you go the fewer FCP seats you see. These numbers are from a couple of years ago but from what I remember FCP had about 50% of the market and Avid had 25% or 30%. A survey of A.C.E. members (American Cinema Editors), who mainly work on 'Hollywood' TV shows and movies, taken around the same time showed that about 80% of members used Avid while about 10% used FCP.
For feature films and television these days, Final Cut is ABSOLUTELY the industry standard. Oh and in the 8 years I've lived in Hollywood, I never met one person in the industry who uses a Windows PC (maybe a writer or two).
