PETA Ad causes Outrage

Move over Poonam Pandey offering to strip for the Indian cricket team, the latest to join the stripper bandwagon is item girl Liza Malik. The model's nude photoshoot for PeTA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) has angered the women's NGO Nari Samman Sangathan.

The picture was for PeTA's campaign against the use of leather balls in cricket, in which Malik is posing in the buff behind a ball cutout. However, the NGO believes the photo is publicity stunt.

Liza Malik "How can the lady protect animal rights by posing nude? If you want to contribute to a noble cause, you can do that by extending financial help, but, in Liza's case, it looks fishy since a lot of aspiring models work with established NGOs like PeTA simply to propagate nudity and garner cheap publicity," said NGO president Sundari Thakur.

"Some item girls and models are taking nudity under the garb of such NGOs and are promoting themselves in the wrong way," she added.

However, Malik seems unfazed.

"I think it is an international way of propagating the interest of animal rights. Pamela Anderson posed for PeTA in the buff as well and, in my case, if I would have worn a sari and fought against the use of animal skin, no one would have noticed it. Since this issue has sparked a debate on the poster simultaneously, the purpose of getting the cause noticed has been served," Malik told the tabloid.

Liza Malik is not new to controversy. The model had earlier been in the news when she claimed she was getting calls to fix IPL matches. Interestingly, the advertisement takes a dig on this very controversy as the line on the ball cutout says, 'The best way to fix cricket is to stop using a cricket ball.'

In her defence, Malik says, "People should stop mudslinging and join hands with PeTA in me in barring ICC and BCCI from using leather balls used for cricketing purpose. I am an animal lover and I am willing to go out of the way and do anything to protect animals."

This makes Liza the second Malik (following Veena Malik) to have found herself in the midst of cricket controversies. So, will her career skyrocket like her predecessor as well? Guess we'll just have to wait and watch.

Noble Cause ?

Kavita Radheshyam, an upcoming actress who will be seen in films like director Faisal Saif's Paanch Ghante Mein Paanch Crore and Om Allah, is on an agenda of putting an end to the cruelty towards animals.

To ensure that her effort doesn't go unnoticed, Kavita did a bold photoshoot going bare making the pictures public stating, "This is my protest in my own way to show my anger towards the cruelty on animals that takes place in India."

On how this idea came by, Kavita explained, "For animals, their clothes are their skin. When we are killing animals for their skin we are actually stripping them naked and that too for our convenience. I felt that it's high time that we too do something to save them from this cruelty and so I planned this photoshoot."

Though Kavita is not associated to any animal welfare organization, she has filed an application with PETA appealing them to support her in her fight. Her announcement comes on the heels of Poonam Pandey's declaration of going nude for Indian cricket team. The fact that the latter has become a laughing stock since then doesn't discourage Kavita.

When asked if she is concerned about what opinions people will form about her considering that she is just starting out her Bollywood career, Kavita said, "I don't care about what people think. I know what I am doing. I don't want to gain some cheap attention like others did. I am firm on my decision and I don't have a problem gettting these pictures public".

"And Poonam Pandey, Who the f#ck is that? I would have known her if she was doing something for a noble cause, something that will benefit the nation, the society."

Kavita, whose first Bollywood film will release in July this year, lashed out at the uncaring manner in which animal welfare is treated in India. "I see so many banners and hoardings talking about Saving Tigers. I want to ask how much money is spent for all this? Wouldn't it be better to invest the same money in actually saving these animals?"

Kavita did raise some interesting questions. However, only time will tell if her noble photoshoot helps saving the animals.

"My idea worked well" - Poonam Pandey

Her one statement for the Indian cricket team made her an overnight star and soon, she became one of the most searched and downloaded celebrities online.

Kingfisher model Poonam Pandey had proclaimed to go dare-bare to boost the morale of the Indian cricket team, if India wins the WC.

In a recent conversation with IANS, Poonam Pandey shared about her strip idea experience and how did it help her to grab the headlines.

“I did many things like opening the fan page on Facebook where I did an exclusive photo shoot. But I was not satisfied, so I came up with this idea, which worked well. It was my own decision and I was awake and fully aware of what I was saying,” said the model.

Though she was finding the whole situation funny, she was bewildered when people started making issues out of it.

“I took it as fun, but people made an issue out of that because I was an Indian girl and not allowed to do such things,” she added.

Poonam Pandey to focus on KKK

Poonam Pandey, who grabbed headlines with her promise to go nude to celebrate team India's World Cup win, has been flooded with offers from Bollywood but the swim suit model says she will not strip onscreen.

The model attracted criticism with her offer, which she claims was declined by BCCI. But it has helped her land a spot on stunt reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colors.

The model says she has been offered film roles and item songs in Bollywood but does not believe that her bold image will have a negative impact on her acting dreams.

"I don't think that my bold image will hamper my career. My decision to go naked was for my nation and not a cheap publicity stunt. That does not mean that I will strip in Bollywood. I want to act just like any other actress," Poonam told PTI.

The 19-year-old claims that despite some brickbats, many people came out to support her decision.

"After I said that I will strip, there were a lot of people who supported and understood my sentiments. I don't understand why few people had to behave like the way they did and create an issue out of nothing," she said.

Poonam, who faced the camera for the first time during Gladrags and went on to become a Kingfisher model, says she is keen on working in films and wants to become a successful actor.

For now, Poonam wants to focus on Khatron Ke Khiladi 4, hosted by Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. The show will be shot in Cape Town, South Africa.

"I am preparing myself for the show, I practice underwater swimming. It is very different from other reality shows. They are just fake," she said.

Poonam says "NO" to strip onscreen

The Kingfisher model Poonam Pandey, who earlier in an interview had expressed that there is no vulgarity in nudity, is now articulating that she won’t be doing Bollywood films in which she has to go dare-bare.

Well, in an exclusive interview, model Poonam Pandey, who became a known face following her controversial stripping statement, said that she has been offered a number of movies with meaty roles, but she won’t be undressing in films as it was only for her nation that she wanted to bare all and not for publicity.

In a one-to-one with the media, Poonam Pandey said, "I don't think that my bold image will hamper my career. My decision to go naked was for my nation and not a cheap publicity stunt. That does not mean that I will strip in Bollywood. I want to act just like any other actress”.

Poonam Pandey unzips all the way

While she hasn't yet gone nude despite making big claims, Poonam Pandey gave a glimpse of her stripping streak at a recent event.

If anyone at all was actually disappointed with Poonam Pandey's 'no-show' after the World Cup, this could make them partially happy. The bigtime wannabe became an overnight star after she offered to go nude before Team India if they won the Cricket World Cup. However, the actress who is yet to fulfill her commitment gave a glimpse of her stripping streak recently.

The entire publicity stunt won her an entry into the latest season of stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Akshay Kumar. At a recent event, when Poonam Pandey was introduced as the contestant on the show and media bombarded her with questions regarding her no-show after India's victory, she gave a trailer of her yet-to-release picture. She unzipped her jacket to reveal a black bikini top much to the surprise of the shutterbugs who went gaga clicking her. And Miss Pandey seemed to be enjoying all the attention.

If rumours are to be believed Poonam Pandey is being paid a whopping Rs 50 lakhs to be on the show. Also we won't be surprised if she bags another popular reality show Bigg Boss, which is also played on the same channel. Personalities like Poonam Pandey are perfect fodder for the Bigg Boss house!

Poonam Pandey comes at a handsome price

She has done it again! We are talking of model Poonam Pandey and her penchant for breaking promises.
The former Kingfisher model might have chickened out of her promise to bare all for Team India if they won the World Cup. But riding the popularity she gained through her gimmick, she is missing no opportunity to make her bank balance fatter.

The buzz is that the 19-year-old Mumbai-based model is being paid Rs 50 lakh to participate in the adventure-based reality show Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi, season-4. And so, she has ditched the makers of another television reality show.

Poonam was offered the show Comedy Ka Mahamuqabla aired on Star Plus and had signed on the dotted lines. But when offered a higher pay cheque for Khatron Ke Khiladi, she promptly went on to sign the show, to be aired on channel Colors.

Poonam's last-minute volte face left the production unit of the comedy show in a lurch.

She had earlier readily given dates to start the shooting of the show. She did not even bother to personally call up the producers and inform about her decision to back out of the show, but simply sent an email at the last moment.

"Poonam was to shoot for the ninth episode of the comedy show and was supposed to be part of Raveena Tandon's team. However, she backed out at the last minute which created tension in the shooting schedule," a source said.

Poonam, who came into the limelight with her publicity stunt of offering to strip at the time of World Cup, is making the most of her popularity by way of her TV outing. "I will be seen on the small screen, but at the moment I do not want to discuss the name of the show I will appear in," she said.

But she will be joining the gang of 13 other B-list celebrities who have already been signed to appear in the fourth season of Khatron Ke Khiladi.

The celebrities who will be part of Akki's show are VJ Bani, VJ Niya, cricketer Anjum Chopra, singer Mauli Dave, model Alecia Raut, Diandra Soares, actress Aarti Chhabria, item queens Kashmera Shah and Sambhavna Seth and Bigg Boss participant Vindoo Dara Singh's wife Dina Singh.

According to the buzz, actress Neena Gupta's fashion designer daughter Masaba Gupta was also approached for the show, but she turned it down.

The 16-episode show will be shot in Cape Town and Poonam will get to share the screen space with superstar Akshay Kumar - the anchor of the show. "She will be flying to Cape Town tonight to join the other girls to shoot for the show. She will be undergoing the training session before the shooting starts," a source said.

Well, she has already shown she is capable of pulling stunts. But it remains to be seen how Poonam fares on a real stunt show.

Poonam Pandey on National TV

Kingfisher model Poonam Pandey has become a household name ever since she pledged publicly to go dare-bare for the Indian cricket team.
And now, the lasso is very much back in action. Don't worry, she has not made any more pledges to strip.

Reportedly, Poonam Pandey will soon be seen featuring in the adventurous reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 4' on Colors, to be hosted by the Bollywood Khiladi himself, Akshay Kumar.

Poonam ditches 'Comedy Ka Maha Muqqabla' for 'KKK 4'
You might find difficult to digest that Poonam was all set to begin the shoot for the humorous reality show 'Comedy Ka Maha Muqqabla' on Star Plus from April 11.

However, she dodged the show at the end moment alleging that she was contractually bound by the channel in question for 'KKK 4.'

A source familiar with the matter told TOI, “Poonam was all set to shoot with us starting Monday and her entry was expected to air in the ninth episode but we just received an e-mail that she can't do the show as she is exclusively bound by the channel that airs Khatron Ke Khiladi.”

While a source from the Colors channel revealed, “There were two to three names like Maria Gorretti and Veena Malik which weren't locked. We contacted Poonam after things didn't work out between the channel and the already approached names. She was signed on last night."

Poonam Pandey's “suspense” revealed?
The 19-year-old hottie has been tweeting, on the micro-blogging site Twitter, since yesterday about a “suspense” that she will be revealing soon.

She wrote, “We all live in suspense from day to day; in other words, you are the hero of your own story.”

“Hey guyz whtz up? u Sounding bit Disappointed, dont be so.. i will be Back in Action.. Just stay tuned ... muaaaah Luv u all!!!!!!!!!!!,” she later added.

“Will open the Suspense soon!!!,” the model posted two hours ago.

Mulling over the latest reports about Poonam starring on 'KKK 4,' it seems her suspense has been revealed.

The other contestants, who will be seen competing for the 50 lakh prize money are VJ Bani, former cricketer Anju Chopra, reality show singer Mauli Dave, models Alesia Raut and Diandra Soares, Kashmera Shah, Aarti Chhabria and Dina Umarova (Vindoo Dara Singh's wife).

'Khatron Ke Khiladi 4' is all set to go on floors in the third week of April in Cape Town.

Let's see what Poonam has in store for us on the show!

Promised a "str*p show", ends up in a reality show

A ‘strip’ act promised by a 19 year old model Poonam Pandey has catapulted her fame to an extent that she is all set to appear on national TV reality show. Buzz has it that Poonam has been roped in as one of the participants of popular stunt based reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ season 4.

No wonder the girl enjoyed instant fame post her adulterous claim. The Kingfisher model had promised that she would go nude following with a strip act for the team India if they lift the Cricket World Cup this year. Although Poonam didn`t keep her `naked promise`, she got all the eyeballs in her direction.

She grabbed a plump offer by a channel to participate in a popular reality show. Speaking to a daily, a source said, “It is always good to have masala in reality shows. More the spice, more the possibility of garnering eyeballs. TV viewers would definitely like to see Poonam Pandey and her antics in their drawing rooms.”

Apart from Poonam, an array of celebs has been chosen as participant for KKK4, a reality show hosted by Akshay Kumar which goes on floors in the third week of April.

Sources confirm that besides Poonam Pandey, Aarti Chhabria, Dina (Vindoo Dara Singh`s wife) and VJ Bani (linked with Shahid Kapoor), the other 9 names included are Kashmera Shah, Sambhavna Seth, Diandra Soares, Alecia Raut, Smita Bansal, Aashka Goradia, Mauli Dave, VJ Mia and Anjum Chopra.

Poonam is not chickening out yet

Poonam Pandey has finally spoken up in her first interview ever since India lifted the Cricket World Cup. The 20-year-old Mumbai-based model, who had promised that she would do a full monty for the Indian cricket team if they won the tournament, says she went off the radar as she was scared for her life, but is not chickening out yet.

I was getting all sorts of calls from all over the world. Some were offering me work, while some were threatening me. They said, ‘If you go to the stadium, see what we will do. We will not let you reach there’,” she says.

But all that hasn’t deterred her from waiting patiently for the permission to go nude. “I am still on with my commitment, but I am waiting for official permission from BCCI. I will not break any law, as a lot of politicians are upset and I don’t want to upset them anymore.”

However, she has her share of supporters, too. “Some people have called to say that they’re proud of me. I have been getting offers from magazines and calendars to pose in the buff, and also been approached by reality TV show makers. But, I will strip only for the Indian cricket team. My commitment is not for anyone else,” she says.

Poonam's stunt publicity gimmick

Bollywood PR expert Dale Bhagwagar created a ruckus of laughs when he decided to impersonate the scandalous Poonam Pandey on his BlackBerry Messenger for a few minutes during the India-Sri Lanka World Cup Finals.

For the uninitiated, Poonam Pandey is a model who rose from obscurity to instant stardom, when she publicly offered to strip and go n*d* to “motivate” Team India for the finals and “boost their sporting spirit to perform better”.

In a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Poonam had stated that studies conducted by various universities abroad confirmed that such ‘performances’ inspired people to achieve better in any field, be it sports or otherwise. “Even medical books on psychology and psychiatry confirm this,” she had said. Taking off from here, with a few hilarious broadcasts on his Messenger, controversy specialist Dale Bhagwagar caught the attention of his huge list of elite BlackBerry contacts, which began liberally forwarding his messages not only on mobile space but also on Facebook and Twitter, bringing Poonam back into full media glare.

All this, just for mischief! Wonder what a firebrand the PR guru would have made out of the gutsy girl, just in case he was to handle her PR. After all, he’s the same publicist instrumental in propelling brands like Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Neetu Chandra, Rakhi Sawant, Kashmera Shah, Sherlyn Chopra and many more into national and international headlines.

Poonam Pandey determined to strip

Model Poonam Pandey who shot to fame with her infamous and hot statement that she would strip to n*d* if world cup is won by Indian team says she is still committed to the promise. Poonam was equally searched on the internet during world cup last stages as people were amused and at the same time attracted by her bold statement.

She has also received a legal notice from UP. The model's phone is switched off. Even her manager has not turned on his phone after India's world cup victory. Sorry guys, it doesn't look like the strip show is happening.

Patience pays off: Poonam Pandey

Model Poonam Pandey who requisitioned the Indian cricket board saying that her bare-all act will have a therapeutic effect on the Men in Blue, said on Monday she intends to stick to her commitment.

A tweet, purportedly of Pandey, said "once Steve Forbes said 'A promise made should be a promise kept.' so guys soon will complete my promise just Wait n watch."
The model had promised to strip if the Indian cricket team lifted the ICC 2011 World Cup trophy. The Indian team has delivered, and there was a growing clamour among netizens demanding that Pandey keep her side of the bargain.

Her mobile was reportedly switched off ever since the final match got over. The authenticity of the Twitter account she is supposedly tweeting from could not be verified.
Before the finals, Pandey wrote to BCCI that she was serious about baring it all for the boys, as it would be a therapeutic method to boost and inspire people to perform better in any field.

Immediately after the match was over, there were several Facebook captions such as, "Where is Poonam?", "I’m waiting for you Poonam", "Where the hell is Poonam Pandey. I bought an HD TV for you!". According to the latest news, she has requested the BCCI to choose another country such as Paris for her striptease, to avoid controversies in India.

Will Poonam do the striptease?

Poonam Pandey has finally spoken up after her silence and she has decided to too keep her promise to bare it all in front of the 2011 World Cup winners.

“Thanx a Lot All for ur Support!! I am Still on with My Commitments Stay TUNED,” Pandey posted on her Twitter page Monday.

Ms Pandey, after the victory, was nowhere to be seen. However, after much hullabaloo she issued a statement through her manager on Sunday that she was waiting for the BCCI permission. There has been no word from the cricket board.
